Jay learned his craft with Devon Youth Jazz Orchestra, playing with many jazz greats such as.. Jools Holland’s band members Dennis Rollins and Pete Long plus jazz greats Stan Sulzmann and Ben Clatworthy.
Jay has also played two 3 week tours of the States, as bass player with another rock band,a fantastic experience, that has shaped his musicical career.
Jay Tamkin Band opened or played with.. Robin Trower, Eric Burden, Todd Wolfe,Pat Travers, Buddy Whittington,The Blockheads,The Fabulous Thunderbirds,Madeline Bell,MAN,Roy Ayers, Chris Farlowe, Aynsley Lister, Popa Chubby,John Etheridge, Ian Parker,Nigel Kennedy, John O'Leary Band, Nine Below Zero, Sherman Robertson, Man, Danny Bryant, Stan Webb's Chicken Shack, Ian Siegal, Ruthless Blues, Billy Walton Band, Wilko Johnson and a tour in Europe with Spooky Tooth.
